It’s not every day the Steve Jobs juggernaut impresses me. I’m sure to some of you I just blew your minds. As those who know me will tell you I despise Ap.. App… Appl… The very taste of the word on my tongue is loathsome. The only times I ever go into one of their stores is to tell those tight jeaned, long haired, black rimmed glasses wearing proprietary DRM pushers called ‘geniuses’ (small “g”) how much I hate their overpriced, over hyped, Macintrasheses. That’s right! I’m so worked up I added two “es”es.

However, today is a different story.

While I was working at my desk I had on a podcast in the back ground. A new listen I picked up recently called This week in Mobile. I was only half listening to it when all of a sudden my brain caught up to what they were talking about. Somewhere around the 16 minute mark of episode #23 was a discussion about some game that includes the ridiculously tiny, but irresistibly adorable Apple TV, and an iPhone. It turns out that apparently sometime in the near future all those kool-aid drinking iDevice owners are going to be able to pair their iPhones or Pods with their iPads or Apple TVs and play games on a larger screen using their iPhone/Pod as the controller. Larger screens, like a television!

Pause for dramatic effect.

Let me just say that again. You’re going to be able to play your mobile games, the same mobile games that you play on the subway, waiting in the car, or standing in line at the genius bar; the exact same version and instance of the game that’s on your mobile device that has all your saved level progress, high scores and character info on your big screen USING the same device you control it with on to the go, your phone, with the same play mechanics like accelerometers and gyroscopeies. I apologize to all you English majors for the run ons or the word “gyroscopeies” for that matter, but holy sh*t! That blows my fraking mind!

All this time we heard rumors of an Apple gaming console, blah blah blah. Turns out they were secretly building weapons of mass distraction right out in the open. As Mike Hobbs put it in the podcast, this IS Apple’s sneak attack. Well played Mr. Jobs, well played.

Mind, blown.

I recently returned from Massachusetts where I was the 1st Assistant Director on an independent feature film. It was a great experience and I think I’ve found my new niche in film making. I always assumed that I would be a director/producer, but after this experience I think my skills are more geared towards ADing. I think it’s mostly because I work so much better under pressure and when everything is counting on me.

A big thanks to Kim Jackson for bringing me on board and to Richard LeMay, Nia Hatsopoulos and Vitaly Bokser for their hard work and making my first on set 1st ADing experience wonderful.

Check out Richard’s blog and Vitaly’s video blogs.
